Hello kids,

Finally a break from all the kids and people screaming to see magic. I love my job but sometimes it's pretty tiring. Especially when you get older and start getting battered by all the kids houdini's is hiring. I remember being part of the new kidz. but now it's getting tougher to stay up to date with things when I'm older than the crowd so I start feeling out dated. The best part is I'm getting paid to not be there for a whoooole week! \/\/007!

Anyhow I've been busy practicing billiards and linking rings my week. it's been hectic though, I drove to the middle of nowhere California. My father's winery. Labellewinery.com  This is where I actually did my first magic show last year.

Well even though I'm not in vegas I'm still tuned in at StreetofCards.tv you all eally should check it out. tonight at 7:30 they're showing street of cards the movie. It's about the tales of the Magic captitol of the world.

I'm gonna get going now. Things to do, people to see, and new pranks to try out.

let's see where to begin. well I went to mcbrides wonderground. awesome. talked to the guy from black's magic. http://www.blacksmagicgroup.com/ they're pretty cool. The whole event was put on to the web via street of cards. http://streetofcards.tv/ yeah so it was all fun. I also got to hang with daniel garcia. which btw I didn't even reconize. even after seeing his face at work on magic magazine all the time. lolz.

But yeah if you're ever in town look us up. I'll talk some more soon enough, and we'll catch up on the good times.

the incredibly awesome illustrious black mage is here to tell you again some of the wako things going on here in vegas. Not much to tell on my end other than Amazing Johnathan got bumped from the sahara to another location and Nathan Burton is there now. This was forseen ages ago.

In more personal news.

I'm excited as you all can see. Now, all I need is a lovely assistant and a routine. oh and ofcourse a whole act. It's a start, my first stage illusion/box. On top of it all, I now work at the Planet Hollywood location 3 days a week. Meaning awesomeness. Although, I do see Wyrick walking around.

There's a Johnny Tompson lecture on the cups and balls next week i believe. $125 for personal instruction. Too bad I'm busy trying to go fishing and registering my car. Not to mention poor.  But, I shall see how it goes. And keep the option open for myself. I really wanna go.

been busy with my acting classes and cleaning house and working and dating and all that jazz. that I haven't been on in while.

alot has happened. I actually got to see maritess perform and see a lecture done by Jay... y'know that guy from magic magazine. lol

life rocks out loud in the magic world. alot of vegas magicians are going to the magic castle to work this month meaning they're all busy. and not at home. makes life so noisoso with/out them here to bug. lol.

criss angel is at the top of the romour mill lately with his latest scandal. apparently he got beat up real bad byt the mafia.... who knows really?

well i gatta get going. busy life.

cups and balls is my favorite trick as of late. I'm excited I now have the VHS tapes of Johnny Thompson's  Comercial Classics of magic. Meaning I can now see my favorite cups and balls routine. now I need to find some limes big enough to fit in my cups. hahahha.

Anyhow. Magic club the other night was enjoyable. I saw another VHS set I want. Dai Vernon's Set. 17 episodes? lectures? either way a set to be admired. So I got another set of copper cups and balls. This time no chop cup.

IT was also interesting that there was a reporter from a magazine... I think someone said Maxim, interviewing people about cooperfield and Magic in general. I know he Spoke with Darwin and Apollo and Majestic. Then tere were a few guys Filming a Pilot for a show called

The League of Extrodinary Magicians!!!!

bwwhahaha...

Sry had to make it sound biiig and so they were filming and interviewing various magicians at the bar. to tell the truth... from what i saw. I don't know how interesting you can make us magicians look.... we're pretty boring. sitting around practicing magic... talking magic... eating magic brownies.... ok I was just kidding about the last part.....

 I mean I think I live a pretty magical Life. But I'm sociable and I think I'm a bit different because I not only hang with magicians. but I hang with other people. but alas the philosophy of magic is still a bit unclear to me. Right now I'm trying to enjoy vegas for what it is... (in the words of Teller) The Midway.... So when I grow up and start working gigs on a regular basis... I'll be giving up the viewing the Midway as a visitor and become part of the midway as a performer. and alas it's a crazy and tulmutious(sp?) lifestyle. you have to give up the parties for your gigs, miss holidays beccause You're on stage. It's a huge sacrifice to be apart of that world. I just hope that it won't be a lonely one. 

I know this has been hugely of an about me page. but it's also food for thought. I'm sure everyone has thought about this even if it's not in these exact words. But in the end I hope that (also in the words of teller) I get to work "in a hotel that their only question of you is if you would like White chocolate or Dark chocolate on your strawberries."

so I'm watching Mcbride's card manipulation DVD vol 1 and OMG. I already have some of the books he learned the tricks from and then also I have some of the dvd's of the people he learned off of.

So anyhow, learning magic aside. lets see..... I haven't been to magic club in a while. I'll go either this week or next week. So I don't really have anything up to date from that. I did how ever get to have the pleasure of going to Lance Burton's house to sit in the audience of a bar magic scene featuring The Great Tomsoni. I have to say I loved his cups and balls routine. He was Hilarious. He even got Armand *a slight of hand artist. And as Johnny told me one of the best.*  Dying of laughter. "Have you ever heard of the Great Malini? You probably don't get out much do you?" His routine was basically him pretending to be some of the greatest magicians. And ofcourse his jokes were typical magician jokes. I've heard them all at one point or another. Either by our magicians at the shop or Geoffery Hansen. Who also works at the shop. But Geoffery has been doing magic foreeever and and is almost as old as god. Then Johnny did a matrix routine and a card trick. really funny. The cups and balls were my fav, but that could be because I just bought a set of copper cups and balls.

OMG there is something very wrong about mcbride's eyebrows. I dunno why it's suddenly bothering me. at the end of the dvd.

Then I sat for another magician who was reallly good. but unfortuately I forgot George's last name. then the night was done at 2 am.

Then the next big event was The Amazing Johnathan's Holloween Party which is where almost everyone showed up. I got to speak with Todd Karr who was dressed as Rocco. Black suit and of course a set of D'lites. I spoke with Jason Byrne a magician in the V show at planet hollywood. I wish I was good with names because I got introduced to alot of people. But I think those were the two that I haven't met so far that made a real impression. because like The great Tomsoni & Co. was there. Bob Massey was there. and Like I said many more..... I wanna go again next year.

Hello!

Another day in the life of Black Mage. Unfortunately I haven't had internet services for a bit. and so I try to get on once a week at mom's but even then I'm busy doing something else.

I've got magic tales to tell up the wazzoo....

I went to the 42nd anniversery Magic club meeting where it was awesome. even the elusive Johnny Aladdin Showed up to the event. I got to meet John Thompson there too. The old flirt. hahaha. 
Also I've been hanging out and learning alot from people. I have a characature drawn of me by Darwin the week before. 

Tommorrow night is a lecture at Denny's and Lee's in vegas. Then the 28th is a lecture by R. Paul Wilson. the guy on the Royal Road to Card Magic DVD by L&L productions.  Which is funny that through a series of connection's I actually have John thompson's copy of that dvd to borrow. LOL

OK I know.

I haven't been around for the past few weeks. I've been rather busy. I've been watching movies and going to club parties and hanging with the peeps. I have though been going to magic club lately. just for an hour because my fav band was in town and I had to see all their shows which happened to be during magic club. not that I missed much. It's about the same as it was before. Although I prolly should show up more because apparently since I'm not there they have to talk about me. and some of the stuff I'm hearing is quite disturbing and has nothing to do with my skill in magic. 

But I think it's been resolved. Ok anyhow.

where to begin. I guess I'll go with what recently happened. I went to the opening of LAX with a friend of mine who works for Star magazine. So we hung out in the press box for about 4 hours. I wasn't allowed in the club because my ID was thrashed. The film with all the seals on it are peeling off. So, I wasn't allowed in.  I did how ever get to see everyone walk the red carpet and then I just hung out in the hotel until my friend was finished up inside. So as an appoligy for making me wait for 2 hours outside of the club. he invited me to a water vollyball game. Me, I was thinking it was at the palms or something. One of the hotels. it was actually at Carrot Top's place. Quite suprised was I. There were quite a few people there. 

Well I have work in an hour. and I should get ready for it. Have fun guys.

Ok so Magic club last night.

OMFreakingG Lance Burton was there. and so was Bob. No don't ask last names. I barely got all the first names. but Bob was awesome. And I quote, "You're a magician, and a girl, And a local? I'm out of a job." hahaha all fun and games; all fun and games. Lance is Like my Idol and so I didn't have the nerve yest to even say hello. Although he did nod to me on the way out. He most likely could tell I was really nervious about even introducing myself. But I figured If I keep going to magic club. I'll run into him again. Maybe this time I won't be all jittery nerves.

Anyhoo, I took my Fakini's in and it was amazing to see all the guys hop to the occasion. So I saw some really awesome stuff. Joey Burton did some really awesome contact juggling. Also I got some really good tips from Bob and other magicians on the handling of the balls. I also got the secret of Ball manipulation. yup the #1 rule of thumb. and I'm not telling. ;p hahaha

Kristi was there too. She was selling some really cool old magic. Rinestone fakini's, a Clear Atomic water vase, a metal one too. She had alot of cool magic. Let me tell ya. She also Invited me to the Diva's of Magic site. I'm skeptical ofcourse.

I pretty much hung out with Chuck Lane and Tyus. it was pretty nice talking with them I learned alot about Copperfield. Truth be told I believe I've foind a new found respect for the guy. As much of a jerk I've heard he is. He's a pretty cool guy. Very hard working and just awesome. 

well I'm out for tonight. If I remember more interesting facts of last night I'll post it. I'll also prolly edit if I find more names.

I guess I should Say hello.

I know some people already know I'm what some will call a shop magician. I think what I'll put here more than anything is a few tidbits of Magic Gossip that I hear. My favorite movie is 10 things I hate about you. My favorite color is purple. My favorite food is mac and cheese with chili cheese on top. but the second best is Mac and cheese with ketchup. Yes ketchup not catsup but ketchup. Oh and uh... my Favorite dessert is Strawberry Shortcake.

My favorite type of Close up magic tricks are ones with gimmiks. My favorite of the week is the John Kennedy Mind Power Deck. Which is where it looks like I can read people's minds. I like it alot. I actually met one of his old assistants. It was pretty funny really. This kid comes in and I perform the trick for him and the kid goes on to say his mom dated Kennedy. And continues to say how she was his assistant. His mom comes in and laughs and says it's funny how she becomes known as the girl who dated a magician and she was like. I was just doing him a favor. *lol* 

hahaha

It's amazing who comes into a shop. No Cris Angel doesn't come into the shop I work in and if he did. I think we would all die of laughter, at least I would. Yes, he is a running joke in the shop. I get rather annoyed when a teenager looks at me with wide eyes and goes, " You're mindfreak." The first time I had that happen I laughed and said, "No, I'm a woman."  Man dude. Married... lol... married for 5 years... OMG... talk about the world's greatest magic trick... lol...

So be warned if you become world renown trust me you will be made fun of in the shops in vegas. No matter how good you are we will find something to nitpick about. Lance Burton is an awesome magician. Nothing could be said about his show. But I did hear about this date he went on and all he did was talk about the cows he just bought. lol... btw just so you all know most of the people I work with are women. Gossip is imperative and guys do so love to join in and make jokes. And no, not all Houdini's  have women magicians; and not all women who work at Houdini's are magicians.

Well that concludes that. I'm off to eat Mac and cheese with ketchup. Peace!
