Now, unlike many threads around the net, this one doesn't start off with me praising him beyond belief.  Rather, I'm curious as to what you guys think of him, because I'm heard a ton of great stuff about him.  I've seen his Secret Files DVDs, and I can honestly say he actually doesn't impress... at least with his effects.  Cases in point- the first DVD he does the performances excellent, but then when he explains, he appears to lose all his flair (IMO).  The second one, minus a couple of exceptions, I wasn't impressed by the material he performed, but I did admit that I liked his ideas of presentation behind the effects.

So I'm wondering, did I just find some of his not-so-great material and need to find the really good stuff, or is there no hope for me with the views I have now, and overall, what do you guys think of him?

That's probably why we are more familiar with more famous magicians/illusionists who have performed some of his acts...all about presentation. I have never seen Jay's act...but looked up info on the good ol' net. I am familiar with Angel and Copperfield who have performed his tricks.
