On August 21st, Jeff McBride will take the role of the Shaman overseeing the burning of Criss Angel, somewhere in the desert in Nevada. It was all taped earlier this year, and will be shown to audiences nationwide on "Mindfreak" this Tuesday, Aug. 21st on the A&E network.

"Did Angel survive the ordeal? Viewers will have to tune in to find out. " This had to be the best line in the article. Of course he survived it. If he hadnt it wouldve been all over the news. Thats why I hate the Mindfreak commercials..."Death defying"? Heck no. |

I do admit, the announcer guy does seem like he is a little out of it, we do really know what's going to happen. As stated above me

I have to admit, Mindfreak has gone down hill. I liked the first couple seasons, but 3? C'mon, it's turned into enough cheese to satisfy the state of Wisconsin. I hope season 4 improves. I love his work, but the way they presented it on A&E lately is just demeaning him. More flare than substance.

My two cents on this- The problem is, every time some magician gets onto tv, they end up turning away from the magic in favor of stunts like these. Houdini more or less started it; these days, whenever Blaine does something, it seems mostly to just be a daredevil stunt. It doesn't help the magical community, but what can you do when people would almost rather see the stunts than magic? Understand that I'm not saying people would rather see stunts than magic, but there is something about stunts that draws laymen attention |

| Ah! The lure of fame. I guess the people who have the spotlight get blinded a bit by it. Now Jeff is into flash and flare, but he never loses sight of what got him there, hats off to Jeff. He and I trade emails from time to time and let me tell you, he's a sweetheart of a guy. He's the most helpful person around. He is judging Celebracadabra, consulting for Criss, Hans Klok, and all kinds of other stuff. While Angel gets people interested, Jeff does something with the people who come onboard. Personally, I love Criss' earlier work, but his latest stuff goes definitely into the more TV ready genre. I hope to see a getting back to his roots mentality in season 4............. |

| Couldn't agree more, Janos. I saw Jeff McBride on stage in Blackpool earlier this month. Supremely entertaining! No stunts... just excellent magic, tricks and illusions. The guy is a genius, with personality that oozes from the stage. And the things he can do with cards... a couple of hundred years ago it would have been Jeff being burned alive... at the stake!!! |

| How was the lecture? Jeff and Abbi keep asking me to go to the Master classes, but never seem to have the cash to do it. Although I'm making it my mission to attend one some day. |

| It wasn't a lecture. It was a variety show, with a number of different magicians and illusionists. Jeff was top of the bill and did about twenty minutes at the end of the night. Now that I have seen him I would also like to go to the Master Classes, cash is an issue for me too, but one day perhaps? |

| Jeff is a friend of mine (so I might be one sided on this but) the first time I got to see him we hung out all night doing tricks in the lobby of a hotel in Cleveland I think. He was on tour with the Rockets. We first started talking when I was the staff artist for a lil bizarre mag. that came out in the 90's. Since then we have worked many times together and every time I see him perform he blows me away. I have seen his lectures and been at his one on one workshops. He cares about magic and loves to perform. I remember going to a Bob's Big Boy and just doing tricks and more tricks and more tricks. If you can find away to go to his Master Classes DO IT!!!! Put off buying all the cool new effects you see and save your money. You will learn much MUCH from Jeff and his friends at the class! |

| He and Abbi have been nice enough to email me many times with support, advice, and kind words. If you've read my article, you know why I particualrly am intersted in teaching magic as well as learning it. Jeff loved the story about my son and we consider them part of the family. Although we've never met, he's been a very good friend, if I am worthy to call him such. |
