I just sent letters to my aunts and uncles to the USA and I asked to buy me a lot of tricks. These are some of the tricks and props that I asked to buy: Factory Sealed, Bullet, Punctured, Box Monster, Hover Card, and Dan & Dave Trilogy. I can't remember the others.

I just asked them to buy me those and I feel bad about it. They will come this October for my grandmother's death anniversary. I will pay them back in case they don't have extra money.

Rather than going gung ho on single tricks, how about a good book about magic? Like Royal Road to Card Magic. A lot more bang for the buck. And it's something you can always go back to for more.

Don't get me wrong, owning effects is great But if it ever ends up more gimmick than you performing, then you need to take a step back and reflect. How much of the magic is me?

I would listen to Janos. Those effects don't really offer you much. Theyre good but you will not get your bang for your buck. I would say invest in Mark Wilsons Cyclopedia of Magic.

Another good series is Paul Harris' Art of Astonishment series.

I found the DVD in Penguin. I am going to ask my aunts and uncles to buy me the DVD.

Let me stress one thing. I think Dvd's to learn magic are great, BUT there is something special about books to me. I don't know, maybe it's the fathoming of the text. Just bear in mind not all magic comes on dvd's and you should get some books to peruse through. Even though the watching of the workings is easier, it's the lazier approach. And some stuff has never nor will ever see the video screen, so try not to limit yourself, ok?
