the trilogy 3 disc dvd series by Dan and Dave Buck....

looks:

the looks of the dvds and the box look amazing, really eligant. the black box, whith the writing all in silver, when opening the case like a book. it shows a picture of both dan and dave both on opposite sides of one another, the still shots around the rest of the box are really nice, they capture the magic and the complexity of the action being performed.

disc 1 tricks:

the first disc contains all of the tricks tought in the series. the tricks are amazing! really eye catching and fun to do. the tricks however, are more like things you would use to link together in your routine, they are mainly close up looking tricks, and all though they are powerful tricks, they all have a flourishy feel to them.the only problem is the menu set up, there is no way to watch all the tricks, you have to select all of the tricks maually, then select if you want to watch them or learn them

disc 2 flourishes:

the second disc contains all the flourishes tought. the flourishes are CRAZY!!!! i didn't think that you could get any better than the duo's last dvd, the system. they are really good. however, just like the system, they don't talk during the explanation of the flourish, it is just them doing the move over and over, slower and slower.

disc 3 everything else:

the last disc of the series teaches you some classics in magic. classic moves, color changes, flourishes 101, and finger exercisizes. the classics move done are a nice touh for those who want to learn the essentials to card magic, things that are usually printed in books, but are more of a visual learner and like to see the actions done in video rather than pictures still frames. the flourishes 101 section of this dvd is good for those who want to learn the begining flourishes. the same problem occurs as in disc two, there is no talking explaining the move, just the move done from different angles, leaving you to figure out how it is done, with no additional advise behind the move. the finger exersizes, however really do help you build up strength, dexdarity, and felxibility in your fingers. witch, are good for not only card magic but all magic using your hands.

final thoughts:

the dvd series is really good the tricks are good, the flourishes are A-Ma-Za-Zing, and the classics are good for beginers. the lack of audio during the flourishes makes it tedious when trying to figure out how to do them. i do think that it should be bought though, it is a good refference peice. something that you can learn some new moves as well as get insight on some classics

price: $85

score: 8/10

I would be interested in the first DVD and maybe the 3rd DVD but mostly likely not the 2nd DVD. Do you know if they sell the DVDs separately or must they be purchased as a set?

i have the trilogy too. its a great dvd set. you learn your very first trick in about 5 minutes and just that one trick alone is amazing.

yeah

but a little disclamer about the tricks

most of them require ALOT of practice, you won't get the tricks down the first time you try them

unless you are already familiar with the moves used in the trick
