i'm about to join a magic club, but to be honest i only know a few of them and none of them very well. i'm prety much self taught and have had very little contact with other magicians

every month they have magic theme and a magician of the month contest based on that theme (last month it was mentalism so i didnt bother),  i basicly perform stuff for normal people, not magicians. this months theme is pick a card magic. i have some ok effects that do well with normal people, but i'm not sure my stuff will play with a magicin

any ideas on tricks that may go over well? (keep in mind i'm no card master)

I would just do what effect you do the best.

I would not worry about fooling them, just have fun and I'm sure they will enjoy it. Then the more you learn about them the more you can work up stuff for them. I have performed for many magicians and for the most part I do the same stuff I do for real people.  I'm always surprised when a magician comes up after a show to talk about how I did this or that... Just be yourself..

Hope this helps and break a leg!
Let us know how it goes~

Good call. Even if they know what you are doing, they can give personal tips or ideas of what works vs. what doesn't. Any feedback is good feedback if you use it............ Then if you can fool a magician, you know you have something........

Well, I hope your performance went well...

and don't sweat what material you do for them. Magic clubs are supposed to be supportive of their new members, and even if you do mess up or something, they're always willing to help you with those mistakes and help you improve

One thing I would add is...
IF someone tries to help you take it!
If they have a comment about how or why you do something listen.
There is a reason we have two ears and only mouth...

I remember years ago asking Jeff McBride to look at my show and tell me what he thinks..
he did and the first thing I said was something like "Oh, well I do "that" because...." and he said okay... and walked away. I then got that I asked for help and he was ready to help me and I was too stupid to listen. You don't have to do everything they say and they may or may not be right. But think about what they say and why.

Break a leg...
