Hey, I really think this site should have a hidden forum that only a few chosen member are allowed to view. It's hard to have big magic discussions without spoiling anything about tricks. I know you guys have been talking about it for a while, so why not? There could be a small quiz people would have to take to test their magical knowledge, or maybe you would have to send in a video of yourself doing tricks before you can be let in.

Unless of course, there already is a hidden forum that I just haven't been invited to, in which case... How rude. ;)

I moved this to the suggestion box because its a suggestion. I think this idea has been suggested before but people were trying to figure out what the criteria would be for entering.

I dont like the idea of a quiz, thats just my personal opinion, not the Zones. I think it should be based on your dedication to magic and the site. I guess a kind of induction, and maybe a vote by guys who are already in that area, if ever happens to be one. I dont know. A special access forum is something I would like as well.

Yes, this topic has been around from the start of mymagiczone.com

A private area can be implemented simply by creating a secure forum and giving security access accordingly. However, I do have two concerns about a private/members only forum.

1. Although such a forum can be used to discuss magic more freely it should not be used to expose the secrets of marketable effects and methods. I believe all of our members feel this way but I thought I would mention it anyway.

2. If everyone posts in the private forum only, then activity on the more public forums will decrease. With more than 60% of the daily traffic to mymagiczone.com coming from non-members using search engines and inbound links we will need fresh content in the public forums to continue attracting new visitors. I will ask that members that are given access to the private forum continue contributing to the community by posting in the public forums.

As far as access to a private forum goes, since this a community site then access should be given to those that actively participate and contribute to the mymagiczone.com community (and the magic community in general). Therefore, once it becomes official, entrance to the private forum will be by invitation only.

So, keep an eye out for a newsletter in January 2008 announcing the private forums.

Good idea Ray. The best 'private clubs' are invitation only. Makes you feel more proud and appreciated if/when you get the call without asking.
